Formed in 2014 by Terry Hawbaker and Kristen Mullen, Intangible Ales is a brewer of eclectic, rustic and wild ales currently based in South Central Pennsylvania. Our transcendent ales focus on the art of fermentation, marrying unusual ingredients with technique and time to produce unique flavors. The original photography featured on our labels embodies an associated moment in time for the drinker to ponder whilst they consume our creations. We believe: art in the bottle, art on the bottle.
Terry is a veteran brewer with more than 20 years experience in the industry. He has won a gold and bronze Great American Beer Festival medal and a silver World Beer Cup medal for his work producing sour beers. Kristen is a professional photographer with more than 15 years experience as a photojournalist. She has won multiple Pennsylvania state awards from several news organizations including the Associated Press and the National Press Photographers Association for her work in newspaper photography.
Our mutual love of creating sensory pleasers for the masses brought us together to form Intangible Ales. Each batch of beer, each name and each label is conceived from our own minds and experiences with great influence from food, travels and music. There’s usually a story behind everything. If you want to know, just ask.
